Why We Started For The Future Chicago, by Enrique Toledo
My name is Enrique Toledo. I was born in Guatemala and moved to Chicago when I was 4 years old. My dad is from Guatemala and my mom is from Mexico. My grandparents from my mom's side also immigrated to the United States and have worked hard to live a better life here in Chicago.
As a Freshman at the Latin School of Chicago, I have never had to worry about health, doing extracurriculars, learning or a home to live in. As an immigrant, I have seen and heard how people do not have access to basic things like the ones I have. My grandfather has always been a leader helping the hispanic community in Chicago get access to education and I promised him I would continue to give back like he has.
With my friends, we have decided to do something fun to help raise money for others. We are excited about FTF Chicago and hope you can help us help those in need by joining us in our fundraising and service activities.
