The Future is Our Responsibility.
About
For The Future Chicago was started by two Chicago high school students, Miles Heltzer and Enrique Toledo, with the goal of making philanthropy fun and engaging for other high school students. We provide grants and offer service and learning opportunities across four pillars: Healthcare, Extracurriculars, Learning and Places to Live. If we can HELP increase access to these four essential services, all Chicagoans will have a better future.
How it Works
Every school year we choose four organizations to support, one in each of the four following pillars: Heathcare, Extracurriculars, Learning, and Places to Live.
We assess organizations across four measures:
Mission. Does the origination’s mission increase access to the relevant service for underserved Chicago youth?
Financial. Does the organization spend money responsibly and will our grant have an impact?
External Ratings. How well is the organization viewed by third parties?
Service. Does the organization offer service opportunities for our members?
Once our four organizations are selected, we spend the school year raising money, and in June we provide four grants to our recipients.
Meet the Founders
We are Miles Heltzer and Enrique Toledo, lifelong friends growing up in Chicago. While we come from different backgrounds, we both know that we are extremely fortunate. We do not question if our parents can afford our healthcare, education, extracurricular activities or homes. Knowing other kids in Chicago are not as fortunate, we began For The Future Chicago as a way to give back to our community.
